Planning News March 2017

Scribe Group have been working closely with our client and the Metropolitan Redevelopment Authority (MRA) for the design of a proposed multi-storey Child Care Centre with ground floor commercial tenancy on the corner of Scarborough Beach Road and Grace Street Scarborough.

The design was developed to address specific client requirements, Child Care Centre regulations as well as the Metropolitan Redevelopment Authority’s Scarborough Redevelopment Plan and vision for the revitalisation of this iconic beach precinct.  The site is bounded to the north by Scarborough Beach Road and a pocket of retail/commercial developments with Grace Street and a laneway bounding the sites western and southern boundaries respectively with residential uses beyond and to the East.  Although the residential uses are within the redevelopment precinct the design and arrangement of the building elements needed to address the crucial issues of building mass and the perceived bulk on adjoining residences.

The Scribe Design team, working closely with the client and MRA representatives (planning officer, urban design review) to refine the design and address key issues for all stakeholders.

Development approval for the project was received in March 2017.
